Silex Microsystems
Silex Microsystems is the world’s largest so called ”Pure Play MEMS Foundry”. “Pure Play Foundry” refers to the fact that Silex does not manufacture any proprietary products. Instead the business idea is to help companies develop and commercialize innovations in the MEMS field of technology in a cost effective and reliable manner.
Silex has a world class staff of engineers a large number of which has a Ph. D. in MEMS technology. They also have a modern production facility in Järfälla where innovative solutions are developed to enable the production of its customers products.
Brann and Silex has a long history of cooperation and Brann has been around practically since the company started in 2000. Over the years BRANN has helped building the company’s patent portfolio which today consists of about 60 granted patents and a number of pending patent applications.
– Silex attaches great importance to protect its technology, and the current patent portfolio reflects our technology portfolio in a good way. BRANN has been of great value in securing that the patents are as good as possible, says Niklas Svedin at Silex.
– In particular we appreciate the flexibility of Brann. They have always been able to provide rapid assistance even on very short notice at times, Niklas Svedin continues.
Mika Silfver is the patent professional from Brann responsible for the Silex account:
– Working with Silex is very exciting. Silex is in the fore-front in MEMS technology and is active in a very competitive field, which is a challenge not only to Silex as a company, but also to us helping them with their IP, says Mika Silfver.
– Silex is not so active in using and protecting trade marks, for natural reasons, since we are operating B2B. However, we do protect our “housemark” SILEX®, and the trademark SilVia® used for our via technology is also important. Also SmartBlock® which is used for our process concept is protected with the help of Brann, says Tomas Bauer, marketing manager at Silex.
